Drug War PH

Let's say that the former President's War on Drugs only targeted the 'poor' and that he failed to bring the big fish to justice.

Q: How does this 'War' really affect common people like you and me?
A: With the streets cleared of illegal drug activities, we (the working class and taxpayers) are less likely to be attacked by users and dealers as their numbers, territories, and influence are minimized.

Q: What about the big fish and their entire cartel?
A: You will almost never encounter these people as you do not have the same lifestyle. They don't go to the same cheap-ass malls and vacation spots that we go to, never drive their own vehicle, and it is very unlikely that they will take your parking slot as they require marinas and helipads. Also, these people have legitimate businesses for laundering (thus generating legitimate employment for the common person).

Q: How does reducing the number of their minions help the effort against illegal drugs?
A: Less dealers and users would mean drug investment losses for the big fish. Thus, more money gets invested in legitimate businesses.

Q: Shouldn't we go after the big fish?
A: Unemployed minions would just transfer over to the next big fish, basically just expanding the territory and influence of the said fish.

Uprooting a hundred year old tree cannot be done overnight, but you can stunt its growth until it eventually gives in.

Let's say all this shit that I'm saying is false. Did the war ever really have a positive impact?

A lot of users and dealers surrendered willingly regardless if the EJKs were true or not.

Q: Am I okay with EJKs?
A: No, just thankful that somebody finally did something to address the problem, and that I, myself, did not have to play the role of the boogeyman.
